Horse Girls by Jenny Rachel Weiner

As the Sound Designer and Composer for the production, my goal was to create a realistic bedroom onstage, while also helping to accent moments of absurdity within the script. Working with the director and my faculty advisor, I designed a sound system that allowed for the proscenium arrangement of the stage, as well as bringing the audience into the world on stage. I created an environmental “hum” that filled the audience and gave the bedroom life, and allowed me to mess with the constant noise to help heighten and highlight specific moments of the production. Also, I worked with the cast to create a rendition of “The Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler that the cast sang on stage during the production, creating a musical score and rehearsal tracks for them to sing along to.
